Mandisa, Grammy-winning vocalist and 'American Icon' alum, has passed on at 47

 


NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mandisa, a contemporary Christian vocalist who showed up on "American Symbol" and won a Grammy for her 2013 collection 'Overcomer', has passed on. She was 47.

A delegate for the vocalist let The Related Press know that the vocalist was tracked down dead in her home in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday. The agent said the reason for Mandisa's demise was not yet known.

Mandisa, whose complete name was Mandisa Lynn Hundley, was brought into the world close to Sacramento, California, and grew up singing in chapel. She acquired fame in the wake of completing 10th on "American Icon" in 2006.

As she left, have Ryan Seacrest let the vocalist know that she was "an incredible soul on the show."

Mandisa continued on, delivering her presentation collection in 2007 called "Genuine Magnificence," which got a Grammy designation that year for best pop and contemporary gospel collection. In 2014, she won a Grammy for best contemporary Christian music collection for "Overcomer," her fifth collection.

Mandisa talked transparently about her battles with sorrow, delivering a diary named "Out of the Dim: My Excursion Through the Shadows to Track down God's Euphoria" in 2022 that nitty gritty her encounters with serious discouragement, weight-related difficulties, the Covid pandemic and her confidence.

On Friday, the Christian radio organization K-Love honored the vocalist via web-based entertainment, saying: "Mandisa battled, and she was adequately weak to impart that to us, which assisted us with discussing our own battles."
